Clint Hill believes Crystal Palace's escape from relegation to be one of the finest achievements ever in football.

The Eagles drew 2-2 with Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday to get the point the needed to stay in the Championship following a season of turmoil that saw them docked 10 points for going into administration, hit with a transfer embargo, three times fail to pay players' wages on time, sell players and change their manager.

"It has been a horrible season," admitted Hill.

"Everyone deserves credit though for keeping us up.

"The stuff we have had thrown at us, 10 points deducted, no players in and a transfer embargo, it's been one hell of a season and for what everyone has achieved at this club I don't think anyone else has achieved anywhere.

"Everyone can hold the heads up high as the club is in the Championship and we can go from here now.

"It was a tense game that had everything.

"I'm not going to lie there were a few nerves but thankfully we held strong in the end and had that bit of luck we haven't had all season."

Hill is one of a number of players out of contract this summer waiting on news of a takeover to see if they will be offered new deals.

With no manager, coaching staff or chairman at the club at the moment though, Hill revealed it was frustrating having no one to talk to.

"There's total uproar," he said.

"There's no one to tell you what is going on and I don't know how close the deal is to buy the club.

"We cannot plan for anything at the moment and there's a lot of us out of contract so it is uncertain times for everyone.

"How long can you wait though? I have two kids.

"I haven't signed anything the moment and no one has told me any different so as long as there is time I will give Palace the time, no problem."
