A Wimbledon care company is using theatre to make sure people with disabilities can stand up and be counted on polling day.

Care Management Group, which supports people with learning disabilities, has been using drama therapists to help its clients across Britain understand the election and decide where to put their cross.

Peter Kinsey, the Hartfield Road company’s managing director, said: “Our election initiatives - and the drama workshops in particular - have been a tremendous success.

"The process of voting can be daunting for anyone and these sessions have been designed to help to take away any of that apprehension.

“All of the individuals we support have been extremely enthusiastic and many are excited about the prospect of making their vote count on May 6.

"All too often the voices of people with learning disabilities and mental health illnesses are not heard in our society.”
