What does volunteering mean to you?

I’m currently working with a specific group of people from all over Surrey who support the British Heart Foundation with their time and quite considerable skills.

They are working on a major project that they will deliver next year – which happens to be the British Heart Foundation’s 50th year.

I’d love to hear from any marketing professionals who may be interested in developing a marketing plan for this event and guiding this keen and creative team along the path to success.

You would need to commit just a couple of hours of your time, to meet and discuss their project then advise and devise a schedule for them to work to and update as the project progresses.

This may be just the opening for someone who is experienced and currently looking for work in this field.

Even though you may not have those specific skills. There are many ways you can help, to suit yourself. Giving a small amount of time can make a big difference to so many people. It doesn’t have to mean a regular ongoing commitment, although many people who join the BHF “family” continue to lend us a hand, sometimes for years. Volunteering doesn’t mean baking cakes, or standing in a wet field at one of our events or attending endless committee meetings, or sorting clothes in a charity shop UNLESS THAT’S WHAT YOU WANT TO DO - and we’re delighted that so many of our helping hands fall into those categories and love it!

As an experienced Fundraising Volunteer Manager, I know there is something to suit everyone, and would urge anyone who has some time and experience to offer, to call me or e-mail me now so that we may get cracking together! Committing to make the first move is the hardest step.

A couple of hours from the average lifetime is such a small commitment, and I would urge everyone out there to give it a whirl.
