Esher and Walton's William Hill Monster Raving Loony Party candidate Jason "Chinners" Chinnery has denied rumours circulating in the constituency that, if he becomes MP, he plans to buy a second home in the Shetland islands and commute to Parliament each day by boat and plane.

One source, who did not wish to be named, told the Elmbridge Guardian: "I have heard Chinners wants to take advantage of the second home allowance for MPs continuing for the next couple of years and buy a second home in the Shetland islands.

"He does care about the environmental consequences of travelling by plane every day though, so he would offset his carbon footprint by planting trees on the wings."

But Chinners, who lives in East Molesey, dismissed the claims as "Chinese whispers" and said the idea would be "too loony for even the Loonies".

He said: "I have heard this rumour do the rounds - in fact I heard it in the pub just last night. But I can confirm it is completely unfounded. I live in the constituency and I am going to stay here."

Meanwhile, Chinners is preperaring for a Looney Party victory party tonight at the the Poyntz Arms in Walton Road, East Molesey.

Four bands with Loony candidates are set to play, including Chinners own band Duvet.

He explained: "We're called Duvet, because we only play covers.

"I have invited all the other candidates down and Dominic Raab, the Tory's candidate, has threatened to turn up. Independent candidates Tony Popham and Andy Lear will be there and the Lib Dem's candidate Lionel Blackman might come too. It will be quality."

Chinners also told the Elmbridge Guardian his campaign had been a success and he was looking forward to election day tomorrow.

He said: "It's been pretty manic and a bit mad, but it's gone really well. A lot of people are really fed up with the other lot."

The victory party starts at 8pm and entry is free.
