London’s firefighters now have a new look following the introduction of their new-style fire kit on 1st April 2010.

The new blue fire kit will be worn by the men and women of London Fire Brigade when responding to ‘999’ calls. It replaces the previous kit which came into service in 1999. The kit is supplied by Bristol Uniforms and was selected following rigorous testing and evaluation, including trials by Brigade operational staff. Every piece of the new kit has been designed to integrate with each other and is fully compatible with all other equipment used by the Brigade at incidents such as breathing apparatus sets and chemical protection suits.

A range of photographs of the new fire kit are available on request from London Fire Brigade’s Press Office. Local newspapers and media are welcome to visit their local fire station to take photographs of the crews in the new kit who actually work at either of Merton’s Fire Stations.
