The biggest news this month is obviously the election. Not only are we voting for who will run our boroughs, but who will run the country. Being the Prime minister is a very important job, and is held by the leader of the party with the most seats in the House of Commons. Seats are gained through local elections, in the British Parliament; there are 646 Members of Parliament or MPs. Each MP represents a constituency, like Richmond Park and Twickenham.

Currently in Richmond Park the MP is Susan Kramer, a Liberal Democrat and the MP for Twickenham is Vincent Cable, who is also a Liberal Democrat, but these positions could change in the coming election.

The three main parties in the UK are Labour, the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats. The Labour Party is currently in office, led by the Prime Minister Gordon Brown. These three parties currently have the largest amount of seats in the House of Commons, and this election is the closest it has been in years, with the polls suggesting that any party could win.

Anyone over the age of 18 can vote, and it is very important that you do, as the winning party will run the country, and make all the decisions which affect our lives. You have the chance to make a change, to bring the right leader to victory, so that the country will be run well. SO tomorrow, make sure you Vote!
