Sir David Attenborough has launched the WWT London Wetland Centre's 10th anniversary celebrations.

The celebrations run until Sunday, June 6, with a whole host of exciting events, focusing mainly on the astonishing biodiversity of this unique urban wildlife reserve.

On May 26, Sir David gave a talk about the centre and his own life and work while broadcaster and keen local supporter of London Wetland Centre, Gyles Brandreth, is due to cut the centre's 10th anniversary cake on Saturday.

Other highlights during the centre's celebrations include the opportunity to get close to fascinating creatures such as otters, bats, hedgehogs, birds of prey, reptiles and amphibians, and to learn about wildlife photography, film making and birdwatching from expert speakers.

The centre, built from four disused reservoirs, replicates numerous wetland habitats such as lakes, pools, reed beds and marshland and attracts a huge variety of bird and other animal species.
