Police are still investigating reports of a young boy being abducted although it is now believed to have been a false alarm.
The nine-year-old boy who initially made the report was unable to name the boy abducted and conflicting reports have been made to investigating officers from other witnesses.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said officers are continuing to investigate the boy's claims and would do so with any allegation made.
New Addington parents, using Netmums and Facebook, have been continually updating each other and passing around information they have gleamed from the area.
So far no parents or relatives have come forward to report their child missing and no missing persons report has been made.
Police will continue to scour the area looking for clues until they are certain the reported incident is a false alarm.
A spokeswoman for the Met said: “We investigate all allegations put to us until we are satisfied that we have done everything we can.”
