A former futures broker is cooking up a storm in the chef world after appearing on the BBC show, The Great British Menu.

Phillip Wells, 40, gave up working in the financial sector and went to work in Spain as a chef, gracing Marbella and Barcelona with his culinary delights.

After living it up in the sun Mr Wells decided he was on to too much of a good thing and came back to the UK.

Mr Wells then trained for three years at Westminster Cooking School to become a chef and has been working in TV ever since.

Mr Wells said: “Filming has finished for the Great British Menu now so I have a bit of time off to enjoy the world cup, or not as the case has been.

“I’m currently working on a spin off of the Great British Menu but that won’t be out for a while.

Along with television appearances Mr Wells sets up shoots for commercials and magazines.

He added: “I get to travel all over the country doing what I do so it is great but I’d like to get further afield and do some more stuff abroad.

“Working on the Great British Menu was great because as sous chef I got to prep the food and appear on camera with the chefs cooking it.

Mr Wells can been seen cooking up his culinary delights on Surrey Street Market at this year’s food festival which runs from September 10-12.
