Police call off hunt for 'gunman' in Warlingham

Police have called off the hunt for an alleged armed gunman in Warlingham.

Officers from Croydon and Surrey Police spent more than an hour combing roads, alleys and fields near Wentworth Way this afternoon after a member of the public called saying they had seen someone carrying a firearm.

But both forces stood down from searching at 1.46pm without finding the man or any weapons.

Armed officers, as well as dog units, closed off side roads and combed the area, but no further sightings were made since the initial report at 12.40pm.
