Emergency teams from Croydon Council have been dealing with questions from residents affected by last night's fire in South Norwood.

A council spokesman confirmed the teams had been on site since around 1.30am and had spoken to all affected residents and helped rehouse those forced to leave their homes.

He said: "These teams worked through the night, with the police, the fire brigade and other services, in order to deal with the emergency.

"They are still dealing with the situation and the council's emergency officer has been answering resident's questions since 10.30am.

"The scene continues to be assessed and secured."

"All the residents at the scene, who did not go to friends or family, have been temporarily housed locally.

"Croydon's housing and social care teams have visited the temporary accommodation and have spoken to all the Oliver Grove residents."
