Three weeks ago we launched a new photographic competition for the Croydon Champions campaign.

Since then we have been inundated with entries and some of them are shown here. There is, however, still time to send us a picture.

It needs to be one that captures the very best of Croydon. It can be something that you think sums up the borough or something that captures the essence of the places where we work, rest and play.

You don't have to be a professional snapper to enter but the images must be of a good enough quality to reproduce in this newspaper.

The winner and a guest will be invited to the Croydon Champions gala reception in November and will see their winning photograph included in a souvenir brochure.

Also, one of our sponsors, Allders, has arranged for the picture to be displayed in one of its windows.

Croydon Guardian assistant editor Danny Brierley said: "We are looking for something that makes people feel proud of Croydon, just like our Champions campaign."

The competition is open to everyone who lives in Croydon and there is no age limit.

Entries will be judged by the Croydon Champions committee. Pictures taken on mobile phones will not be considered they must be no bigger that 6x4 inches.

l E-mail pictures to newsdesk@croydonguardian.co.uk or post your photograph to Croydon Guardian, Newspaper House, 34-44 London Road, Morden, SM4 5BR. Closing date is Friday, August 18.
