The woman found dead in a Bunswick Road back garden has been officially named as Antonia da Costa Carneiro.

An inquest was opened today, at about 12pm, and adjourned until January 13 when it will be fully reviewed.

The death of the mother-of-three was initially treated as suspicious by police.

Detectives from the homicide and serious crime command were called in to investigate when the woman was found by neighbours barefooted in her night clothes on the ground in the garden on Brunswick Road, Kingston on Monday, November 15.

However, a postmortem examination at Kingston Hospital on Wednesday, November 17, gave the cause of death as multiple injuries consistent with a fall.

Mrs da Costa Carneiro, who was in her 60s, lived on the top floor of converted flats which was cordoned off until just after 8pm when the body was removed.
