Library users battling to prevent Croydon Council closing their neighbourhood branch will be grilling the councillor leading the consultation on its future tomorrow.
Members of Norbury Green Residents’ Association(NGRA) believe the council is setting users of six libraries across Croydon against each other by asking them to choose which branches should be saved.
The group has organised a public meeting to discuss Norbury Library’s future at Norbury Baptist Church, Semley Road from 7.30pm tomorrow.
Speakers on the night will include the council’s cabinet member for culture, Sara Bashford, who is overseeing the borough’s consultation into closing the libraries in an attempt to save up to £700,000.
NGRA chairman Mark Smith and Labour Norbury councillor Maggie Mansell will also be speaking at the event, which has been jointly organised by the NGRA and the Norbury Village, Scots Estate and Pollards Hill residents' associations.
