A schoolgirl has taken on the mammoth task of collecting photographs to create a family album for the world.

Kingston Grammar student Harriet Page has launched the project Harriet's Album to raise funds for a non-profit organisation in India called Project Why.

The Twickenham teenager first visited the project in New Delhi when on a volunteering holiday with her parents in 2008.

She met some of the slum children and worked closely with the project's women's centre, teaching both girls and teachers English.

Inspired by the life-changing results achieved there, she returned home and began fundraising for founder Anouradha Bakshi's biggest project to-date, Hope Hotel.

The hotel will provide a guest house for travellers and generate enough funds to support the education of 800 slum children every year.

It will also maintain a day care centre for those with special needs and a centre for vulnerable women in the slums.

Miss Page, 17, said: "The inspiration for Harriet's Album comes from having always loved making photo albums and taking pictures. I thought if the world is one big family then why not create a family album for the world."

Send your favourite family photos to harrietsalbum.org to play a part in building the album.
