Chessington World of Adventures has given readers the chance to name a baby oryx born at the park over Christmas.

The competition is running in the build-up to African adventures week, from February 19 to 27, and winners will get tickets to visit him and enjoy the activities on offer that week.

African culture with face mask painting, African animals, jewellery making, African drumming, dance and song, are all on offer during the week.

Chief executive David Smith said: "We're really excited to be holding our African adventures week for the first time and with our Wanyama Village and Reserve full of African animals and a safari hotel it's sure to be a wild adventure."

The hotel has a new Zafari bar and grill, African wine tasting and rooms with views over the animals in the reserve.

Visit chessington.com for information on roar and snoar packages, which includes tickets for the park and a stay at the hotel.

To name the reserve's new baby oryx, pick an African, or African-style name, and email lrobertson@london.newsquest.co.uk or call 020 8744 4248.
