A new supermarket which opened in Wandsworth has recruited 15 unemployed people who were struggling to find work.
The Sainsbury’s Local store, on Old York Road, recruited directly from Streatham Job Centre.
Michelle Pinkney, 37, from Lavender Hill, had a break from work after raising a family, but was offered a position after attending a job fair.
She said: “I am so excited that Sainsbury’s has given me back hope and my confidence that I had lost over the years, and given me the opportunity of a good life for my family.”
The new store was was officially opened on January 14, with representatives from Age Concern cutting the ribbon.
