An Epsom Rotarian has handed over a cheque for £30,560 after a three year campaign to raise money for the new teenage cancer unit at the Royal Marsden Hospital.
Derek Hockin organised a series of fundraising dinners held at the House of Common and in the local area to raise cash where Jimmy Tarbuck OBE donated his skills as an after dinner speaker.
Further donations were received from neighbouring Rotary clubs around the area.
Mr Hockin said: "I know that the money we've handed over has helped to make things just a little easier for these young people who have to cope with a terrible disease.
“I am so grateful to everyone for the part they have played, small donations, large donations; every single person who has helped should feel proud.”
The new two-storey building will feature state of the art entertainment, mood lighting, and a dedicated chill-out floor for friends and family of children battling cancer.
