A 45-year-old man was arrested in Thornton Heath yesterday after £50,000 worth of crack cocaine was found in a car at his address.

The man, arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs, was also found in possession of 500g of cannabis.

The cocaine was discovered underneath the back seat of a car parked at a home in Thornton Heath.

A search at a second address revealed approximately £2,000 in cash as well as items suspected of being used in drug trafficking.

The man was taken into custody at a south London police station, where he remains.

He was arrested by detectives from the Metropolitan Police Service's Middle Market Team, with the help of Croydon police.

Detective Inspector Steve Miles said: "With the assistance of our borough colleagues we have successfully recovered of a significant amount of drugs, no doubt destined for the streets of London."
