Job hunters can get extra help finding employment with the launch of new job clubs in Carshalton and Wallington.
Work Clubs give people the chance to meet others looking for work, build new contacts, share job hunting experiences and get advice on interview techniques, CVs and volunteering opportunities to help them find employment.
The scheme launched at the Circle Library on Tuesday, April 5, and the Phoenix Centre Library on Friday, May 13.
Led by volunteers from nearby businesses and individuals from within the community, the sessions are intended to help those attending to receive the best combination of specific guidance and local knowledge.
Sutton’s adult education centre, Scola, offers additional training to boost residents’ skills, while Jobcentre Plus provides advisors to give advice on where to find vacancies, how to compile CVs and speculative letters, in addition to providing local vacancies.
Councillor Jayne McCoy, Sutton Council's spokesperson on economic development, said: "While Sutton has the highest employment rate in London, there are still many people looking for work and we hope that this initiative will make a really big difference."
