A man was shot dead in the gardens of an estate this morning.
The shooting happened on the Poynders Road side of Plummer House, on Clapham Park estate at 11.30am.
The man's body remains under a tent as forensic officers work on the scene.
The majorityof the estate has been cordoned off by police, including a large section of Poynders Road.
A resident observing the work of police said a friend called her to say somebody had been shot.
The woman, who did not want to be identified, said: "I live just up the road and came straight down. It's just horrible that this happened."
A group of clearly distressed young men standing at the scene, who seemed to know the victim, refused to talk to the Streatham Guardian.
DCI Gordon Allison, from the Met's Trident unit, is investiganting the case.
