A nightclub has had its licence suspended after a gun-toting man was allowed in by door staff.
Club Mirage in Streatham had its licence suspended for 28 days pending a review by Lambeth Council’s licensing sub-committe after the man was caught on CCTV carrying a gun into the club.
Police have said in their application to have the licence suspended that the man is “believed to be known to the club and/or door staff” and was seen brandishing the gun, believed to be a Dark Pistol in front of door staff.
According to police, two men tried to enter the club on March 11, but were both refused entry. Staff then shut the club’s doors and they tried to force them open unsuccessfully.
Shortly after there was a fight outside between two groups of men who were throing bottles at each other.
That was when a man was seen to walk down the side of the club and return waving a gun before entering the premises.
CCTV footage was given to police on April 14 and an emergency application to suspend the licence was made.
Club Mirage opened on Streatham High Road, next door to the ice rink, in October.
