A partially deaf teacher will be dancing for her survival in the live finals of a hit BBC TV show tonight.

Kirsty Swain, 29, from Hackbridge, who has had hearing problems since birth, dances by being able to feel the vibrations and bass of music.

The dance teacher at performance art school Stagecoach Sutton has impressed the panel of judges on So You Think You Can Dance?

She is among the finalists who will compete in the first live episode of the series, being broadcast tonight on BBC1 at 7pm.

She made it to the final 20 contestants in the competition after making it through the first auditions and a gruelling boot camp selection process.

Miss Swain, who appeared in the film version of musical Mamma Mia, said: "When I saw the show last year, I thought that it was made for me - prove you can dance by showing off variety and style."
