Hook Road, Epsom, is still closed seven hours after a lorry crashed into a railway bridge.
A 38 tonne articulated City Link lorry crashed into the railway bridge at the junction with Chase Road at about 5.30am.
The lorry partially tipped onto its side spilling its load on to the road causing the road to be closed for several hours.
It’s understood the driver of the lorry was not injured and an inspection of the bridge has revealed that it is not materially damaged.
A spokesperson for Network Rail said: “We sent an operations manager to check the bridge this morning.
Normally we slow the speed of trains going over the bridge in these situations.
Line speed was restored at 6.15am.
It wouldn’t have had a significant impact on our service.”
