A motorist who seriously injured a pedestrian during a dangerous overtaking manoeuvre has been jailed for six months.
Christian Tabis, 20, hit the 31-year-old woman as she tried to cross Church Road, Mitcham, on September 20 last year.
At the time of the collision Tabis, of Brentford, was overtaking a stationary car and bus in his Audi A4, was the wrong side of a keep left traffic island and speeding.
Detective Sergeant John Hartfree, from the Metropolitan Police's road death investigation unit, said: "The sentence given to Tabis sends out a clear message to anyone who drives dangerously. This is a very sad case, the victim, a 31-year old woman from Mitcham received very serious injuries and has not recovered from this incident. She requires ongoing treatment.
Tabis was sentenced at Kingston Crown Court on Friday after pleading guilty to dangerous driving.
