A man killed in a dramatic shooting on Friday has been named.

Police are hunting two men after 41-year-old Carlton Leonard Ned, was shot in the chest at his home in Langdale Road, Thornton Heath, at around 2.40am.

Mr Ned was treated by paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance but he died at the scene.

A woman in her 50s was taken to hospital with minor injuries and has since been discharged.

A post-mortem held at St Helier's Mortuary on Saturday 2 July found the cause of death gave the cause of death as a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Two suspects wearing dark clothing and balaclavas made off towards London Road following the shooting. One was described as 5' 9" and the other 5' 2" with light brown skin.

Officers are keeping an open mind regarding the motive of the shooting at this early stage and no weapon has been recovered.

DCI John Crossley said: "Two men who were armed and had their faces covered entered the house and fired a number of shots.

"There were three people at the address at the time of the attack. A woman suffered minor injuries and thankfully has been discharged from hospital.

"Mr Ned, who we do not believe to be the intended target tragically died at the scene.

"There will be people who know what has happened and who is responsible for this dreadful attack and would appeal for them to contact the Incident Room or Crimestoppers.

"I appreciate that some people might be concerned about reporting gun crime, but we are willing to speak with them in confidence and to arrange protection measures during the criminal justice system."
