Olympic swimmers led Elmbridge children through a series of aquatic activities last weekend.
Children aged seven to 14 enjoyed sprinting, synchronised swimming, mini water polo and diving with the world class athletes at the Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Centre in Walton, on Saturday, August 13.
The event, set up by Zoggs swimwear and Olympian Steve Parry, marked the launch of a national initiative to encourage and inspire children in Olympic aquatic sports.
Parry hosted the day and was supported by double-Olympian and Commonwealth champion swimmer Ross Davenport and British water polo player and 2012 hopeful, Jake Vincent.
Zoggs’ Marketing Manager David Annand said: “By teaming up with Steve and his team and working with our leisure partners to put on these events and open them up to so many children, we hope to not only inspire and educate everyone who comes along, but for them to experience just how much fun the pool can be.”
The children, who were encouraged by the athletes in each of the disciplines on offer, also took photos of the swimmers, got their autographs and some challenged them to a race across the pool.
