Crystal Palace are hopeful of completing deals for Antonio Pedroza and Anthony Gardner this morning.

The Eagles have been in talks with striker Pedroza’s Mexican club Jaguares for some time but are confident a deal is close to being agreed for the 20 year-old, who has been on trial with Palace.

Gardner spent last season on loan at Palace before being released by Hull City in the summer.

A deal for him to return to south London has been on the table all summer and he looks set to sign it having also had trials at Birmingham City and Nottingham Forest, both of which are thought to have offered him one-year deals while Palace are offering a two-year contract.

“I hope to have some good news in the morning with Pedroza,” said Palace manager Dougie Freedman.

“Because of the situation with the Mexican club and dealing with them through emails, it has taken longer than it should have and also because he is injured at the moment as well.

“But he has very small feet and he will be decent for us.

“Anthony Gardner will hopefully sign for us in the morning as well, that is 98 per cent done.

“We have been patient but Anthony is the right character and player to come in and help us in our defensive duties.

“Sometimes, you think the grass is greener and you go and express yourself to other clubs and soon find out this place isn’t too bad.

“We do quite alright, we train right and are pretty professional and I think Anthony, in the end, realised that.

“He still has offers from other clubs, that’s why I say 98 per cent, but we have got him in a place where he understands he will be treated with the respect he deserves and hopefully brought on as a player.

“He is behind in fitness though and I reckon he won’t be with us until the end of August break, after the Blackpool game.”
