Young bellringers have been learning the ropes in a special training session.
Churches want more people to take up the hobby and help them sound the bells during next year's Olympic games.
A special training event for budding ringers aged 9 to 17, organised by Surrey Bellringers, took place on Thursday at St Mary's Church in St Mary's Road, Wimbledon.
Carolina Goodship from Surrey Bellringers said: "Church bell ringing is an ancient English art that dates back to the 1600s. In and around Wimbledon are a number of churches with thriving bands who ring for church services, weddings and other special civic and religious celebrations."
Other churches hosting bellringing in Merton include Christ Church in Colliers Wood, St Peter and St Paul in Mitcham and St Mary's in Merton Park. For more information email carolinegoodship@mac.com
