A man has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a serious incident on the A3.

The southbound carriageway of the A3 has re-opened following a pedestrian being hit by a car at about 3.15pm.

Both carriageways and slip roads were closed following the incident, on the northbound carriageway between Guildford Cathedral and Dennis roundabout.

It is understood the pedestrian was hit by a Ford Mondeo.

The man, in his 30s, was taken to Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel by air ambulance suffering from life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was uninjured.

The northbound carriageway of the A3 remains closed at the slip-road with Guildford Cathedral whilst investigators carry out enquiries.
