Cllr Kirsty Jerome, Sutton Council’s Executive Member for Education and Schools, said: "Many congratulations to all the students who are celebrating excellent exam results.

"These results are the culmination of years of hard work by students, teachers and parents, whose guidance and support is vital for success.

“I wish everyone who has received results today continued success in their future education and careers.”

"The students from the 14 secondary schools in Sutton were among more a quarter of a million teenagers picking up their A-level results today."


14:21pm Overton Grange School has released its results:

Pass rate = 96% A*-B = 42% A*-C = 66% A* = 5.3%

A spokesman for the school said: "Students and staff at Overton Grange School in Sutton are celebrating another set of excellent ‘A’ Level results this week.

"The 96% pass rate show further improvement on the high standards of previous years and the vast majority of students achieved the results that they needed to go onto the University of their Choice.

"Many students have outstanding success stories including: "Timothy Eales, Jack Haining, Mzwandile Ngwenya and James Simpson who each achieved three A Levels at grade A (including two graded A*) "Sam Bartlett and William Bussell who each achieved three A Levels at grade A.

"Stephen Babalola who gained an A Level at grade A and a double Distinction for Business Studies. "Hannah Craig, Emma Hilton-Grange, Samuel Hook, Joseph Moore, James Naidoo, Sarah Turner, Matthew Walrond-King who achieved at least two grade A and a grade B in their A Levels.

"We are very proud that 42% of Year 13 students at Overton Grange School secured grades A* to B in their A-Levels but the school is equally impressed by those students who, whilst not achieving the very top grades, still worked hard and secured pass grades which will take them onto their chosen Higher Education or employment."

Mr Butterworth, Headteacher said: “I am extremely proud of our students who have displayed such ambition, hard work and commitment.

"They have been a pleasure to work with and an inspiring example to the younger students here. I would like to thank them all, the parents and carers who supported them and the staff who worked so hard on the students’ behalf. I wish them every success.”


14:21pm Glenthorne High School has released its results:

It had a 100% pass rate with 33% of grades at A/A*, 55.2% of grades A*-B and 88.2% of grades A*-C.

A spokesman for the school said: "We are very proud of the outstanding results gained by our Year 13 students this year.

"They surpassed all previous records and met all our expectations to achieve the best results in our history; there was a 100% pass rate with 33% of grades at A/A*, 55.2% of grades A*-B and 88.2% of grades A*-C.

"There were many individual students who excelled, but particularly noteworthy were the results of Jamie Miles, Greg Rowley, Seher Bellikli (2A*s and 2As), Lea Tiernan (2 A*s and 1 B), Annabelle Spooner (3As), William Attwood (A*, A, B) Charlie Larkin (2As and 1B).

"The outstanding achievement means that students have met their university offers amid record pressure on university places.

"Jamie Miles will be going to Oxford University to study Philosophy, Politics and Economics and Greg Rowley will also be going to Oxford University to study Medicine.

"Seher Bellikli will be going to Warwick University, William Attwood to Nottingham University, Lea Tiernan to Leeds University, Lauren Goldsack to Exeter University and Pei Xi Cong to University College London."

"Congratulations to all our Year 13 students and their teachers; we wish all our students well at university and in their chosen careers.

"Year 12 students are also celebrating exam success. Results have continued to improve and also represented a school record with a 97% pass rate, 20% of grades at A grade, 50% A-B and 76.4% at A-C.

"There were dozens of outstanding individual performances; special congratulations go to Alex McGoran (4As) and Megan Barnes, Sophie Wills, Aaron Lewis, Holly Murphy, all of whom gained at least 3 A grades."

11:14am Carshalton Boys Sports College has released some of its results:

It achieved a 100% pass rate at A-Level (A2), with 41% of the grades awarded at A and B, a rise of 10% over last year.

A spokesman for the school said: "Seven years of hard work, guided and supported by teachers and parents, has transformed their life chances.

"We currently have 27 students with places at university, a figure which is likely to rise to more than 30 by the end of today: this represents 100% of those who applied through Ucas.

"Every student in Year 13 has education, training or employment in place. In addition to those who applied through Ucas, we have students taking non-traditional routes into higher education; and those who have not chosen university have all found excellent employment and apprenticeship opportunities."


10:50am Sutton Grammar School for Boys has released its results:

100 % pass rate. A-C - 97.4 %, 27.3%A *, 35.8% A's.  

Gordon Ironside, Headmaster, at the school said: "We're very pleased with these excellent results. More and more people are looking for places at university, there is lots of competition so these results will stand our students in good stead."


10:44am Some of Greenshaw High School's results are in.

The school achieved a 99% pass rate with 50%* of the grades at A*-B.

A statement released by the school said: "Greenshaw High School A Level students celebrated an excellent set of exam results. The school achieved a 99% pass rate with 50%* of the grades at A*-B. The majority of students are now on their way to their first choice universities and the school is understandably proud of their achievements."

Alan Gardner, director of Post-16 studies said: "The students have worked hard for their success and they are thoroughly deserving of these superb results.

"What we are continuing to do at Greenshaw is challenge students with a full range of abilities to achieve grades that will help advance their careers, whether this is through further study or in employment.".
