David O'Neill, 22, from Brunswick Road, Sutton, appeared in court accused of throwing a brick at a female police officer during a near riot in the town centre.
The trained chef allegedly lobbed the brick at officers as up to 70 youths clashed with police in Sutton town centre on Monday, August 8.
He is said to have wrapped a scarf around his head before throwing a brick at the police community support officer as he advanced on him.

He was one of few alleged rioters across London to be granted bail and will appear at Camberwell Green Magistrates Court on September 22.
