Preparations are underway for Lambeth’s annual celebration of Black History Month.
Highlights include a talk by Booker prize winning author Ben Okri at Brixton Library about his groundbreaking new series of essays ‘A Time for New Dreams’.
Other events being held throughout October include a discussion on Martin Luther King Jnr, creative writing workshops with top author Courttia Newland, plus reading activities for children and young people, including a poetry competition and a film production course.
Councillor Florence Nosegbe, cabinet member for culture at Lambeth Council, said: “Black History Month in Lambeth is always a showcase for some truly inspirational creative and artistic talent, and this year is no exception.
“I’m really excited about this year’s lineup, which offers a really varied and rich range of events, so I’d urge people to pick up a programme and get involved.”
