The best cafes, restaurants and takeaways in town have were revealed when the inaugural Taste of Tooting winners were announced.
A whopping 1,500 votes were cast during the competition - run by Tooting MP Sadiq Khan - which was designed to celebrate the best eateries in Tooting, Balham, Earlsfield and Wandsworth Common.
Rick’s Café, in Mitcham Road, was the overall winner of the Best Restaurant category while a dead heat was recorded in the Favourite Café category, with Balham High Road's Bertie and Boo and Walker Wyatt, in Upper Tooting Road, sharing the spoils. Lahore Karahi, Tooting High Street, walked away with the Tastiest Takeaway accolade.
Mr Khan said: "This has been a tough few years for local businesses, and I wanted to do something to help promote them, and encourage local people to eat locally and spend their money in the community.
"It’s been wonderful to see the area’s diversity come out in the results - with British, South Asian, Italian, French, Middle Eastern restaurants all proving popular with diners."
