By Wendy M. Siemaszko, Fortescue Road, Colliers Wood
I live in Colliers Wood, an area better known for its retail parks (made briefly famous by the August riots) than for its picturesque landscape.
However it is heartening to see that nature still offers us a rich store.
Within 400 yards of my house, we have picked and eaten blackberries, pears, crab apples, damsons and hazelnuts.
I also used to pick field mushrooms in the park, but haven't seen them recently.
What a pity that in these days of economic crisis, people still don't realise what they are crushing underfoot as they walk to the Tube on their way to work.
