A trio of friends who are strangers to running have dug out their trainers to prepare for a half marathon.
Hannah Ruse, 27, from Walton decided to enter Nike Run to the Beat on September 25 to raise money for a charity that helped her friend Lauren Bax’s dad Alan, while he battled lymphoma.
Big Al, as he was known, lived in West Molesey and died on St George’s Day this year.
The three friends, who also include Ellie Finnerty, 26, from Walton, have found the training tough, but have worked up to 10-mile runs around the borough.
Miss Ruse said: “I think it’s really helped Lauren, doing something for him, because she was really close to her dad.
“We hope the money will raise will make a difference and stop others going through the heartache we have.”
