Crystal Palace boss Dougie Freedman rued his team’s luck after they fell to a 1-0 defeat at Doncaster Rovers – their third successive league loss.

There was plenty of controversy as the Eagles’ had two penalty claims turned down and Doncaster scored through a deflected effort from former Eagles John Oster.

“I can’t control the referee making decisions like that,” said Freedman of the penalty decisions.

“I can only control the way we play.

“For the first five or six games of the season we have had a bit of luck and we’ve played well and won some games.

“Everything that could have gone against us, went against us at Doncaster.

“Obviously, you can’t control the referee but I suppose, ultimately, we didn’t do enough to win the game.”

Glenn Murray had two good opportunities either side of half time but was denied by an inform Neil Sullivan.

They turned out to be costly misses however as Doncaster snatched an unlikely winner.

“We were very unlucky with their goal,” added Freedman.

“They didn’t look like scoring, they didn’t carve us open. They got a little momentum from the crowd when Billy Sharp came on but I though we stuck in there.

“We gave it a go, but we didn’t quite deliver that quality in the final third.

“The last 15 minutes we pushed forward but it just wasn’t quite enough to win the match.”

Palace now travel to the Amex Stadium tomorrow night as they take on rivals Brighton.
