Crystal Palace fan Dave Moore gives his views on the Eagles' 1-0 loss at Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.

Walking out of the Keepmoat On Saturday was frustrating to say the least.

I completely believe we are a better side than last season, with a stronger spine and more options, but I can’t say I feel much has changed away from Selhurst.

Saturday's game was there for the taking; Doncaster were as weak as they could be, with key players not able to start and a new gaffer replacing the ever popular Sean O’Driscoll.

Former Eagle Jon Oster had not scored for 18 months and they hadn’t won in 19 games, no wonder the pre-game pub chatter was narrated by ‘it’ll be typical Palace’, and it was.

We seem to have a tendency to start well enough away from home and not take our chances, the opposition then take stock at half time and come out and turn us over.

I do not subscribe to the notion that Dougie demotivates the boys, but I do feel there are serious issues that need addressing before we will compete away on a regular basis.

The lack of cover for full back’s was again an issue while there was little creativity in the middle of the park.

We never really look like scoring and our set plays are all but worthless without Garvan.

There are, of course, reasons to be positive; we are not as bad as last year and have been treated to some excellent performances so far this season.

But rest assured, on Tuesday night away at Brighton there will be no excuses, and no place to hide.

Results are one thing, but performances, desire and commitment another.

This game is down the players, no one should need motivating, everyone pulling on the shirt should know the importance of the fixture.

Rest assured if they perform at The Amex as they did on Saturday, Dougie will have some questions both to answer and ask.
