The 312 bus route has been saved, Transport for London has confirmed.

The bus route, between the Swan and Sugarloaf and South Croydon Grange, was due to be axed.

But London Assembly Member Steve O’Connell said Mayor of London Boris Johnson had confirmed TfL was abandoning the plans.

Assembly Member O’Connell said: "I am extremely pleased that Transport for London has abandoned its plans to scrap the 312 beyond the Swan and Sugarloaf.

"Some 53 people signed the petition to retain this service and thankfully TfL has seen sense and abandoned its plans.

"It’s a victory for common sense and it’s a victory for people power. I’m very pleased with the result and thank Boris for this help."
