Four hundred women raised more than £50,000 after particpating in a sponsored walk to raise money for St Raphael's Hospice.

The Ladies Only Midnight Memories five-mile hike took place on Saturday (September 24) in Sutton and was started by Mayor of Sutton, Councillor Gerry Jerome.

Suzi Forland, events fundraiser at St Raphael's Hospice, said: "It was a fantastic night. We want to thank everyone who took part and also a big thank you to over 70 volunteers who helped with registering the walkers, stewarding and catering."

Participants all wore yellow curly wigs aand when they returned from moonlit stroll they at 1am, they were greeted with hot drinks and bacon and cheese butties.

Coun Jerome said: "It is was great to see so many people here tonight. St Raphael's has been caring for patients with life threatening diseases since 1987; it supports 900 patients each year and the services are entirely free - but £3 million relies on charitable donations."
