The daughter of killed landlord Michael Ryan told a court an ornament used by his accused murderer to 'defend himself' was not in the flat.

Elizabeth Ryan returned to court to discuss a sketch drawn by the defendant, Stuart Crawford, who is accused of killing Mr Ryan in September 2008 before fleeing to Thailand.

Crawford's defence team had produced the drawing during Monday's proceedings.

The sketch was the object which he claimed he used to defend himself against his landlord Michael Ryan.

Michael Ryan was found murdered in his flat in Devonshire Road, Sutton, on September 10, 2008.

Late in yesterday's session, Elizabeth Ryan, who owned the flat in which her father was killed, said she had never seen a green ornament like in the drawing ever before at the flat.

Miss Ryan told the jury, she had "definitely not" seen anything resembling the object in her flat, which she rented out to her father.

She said: "I would definitely have noticed something bright green."

She said that her father didn't have many ornaments and they would have discussed if he had recently brought one back from Thailand.

Forensic evidence dominated the afternoon session.

Prosecution witness Allan Allday, a blood pattern analyst, was cross examined by defence lawyer Chris Henley.

Mr Henley quizzed Mr Allday on whether or not various blood particles found on walls and objects in the flat could have been caused by a struggle rather than an attack.

Mr Allday conceded that in theory, some blood could have been caused by "vigorous shaking" but Mr Allday maintained that in two areas of the flat, the blood was caused by "an impact to a bleeding person".

Former tenant Stuart Crawford has pleaded not guilty to murder.

The trial continues.
