A man is to appear in court this morning accused of murdering a Filipino carer at a house in Kingston.
Asad Niazi, 29, of Cambridge Road, Kingston, was charged last night with murdering Charito Cruz, 37, a healthcare assistant at Galsworthy House care home in Kingston Hill.
He is expected to appear in custody at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court this morning.
Miss Cruz, who had a young daughter, was found dead at the house opposite the Peel pub on the Cambridge Estate on Monday night.
Police had been called to reports of a woman with a head injury. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her formal identification was delayed yesterday as police struggled to reach her next of kin.
Her brother Robert and sister-in-law Cai moved to Australia about a year ago, a friend said.
This morning the house was still cordoned off and a police car on guard.
Members of Kingston's Catholic community were planning to hold a prayer service for her today.
