Two women have been arrested in connection with an attempted armed robbery in Warlingham.

A 28-year-old from South Croydon and a 26-year-old from Croydon were arrested on September 23 on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery.

The arrests relate to an attempted robbery on August 16. The two victims both of whom are in their 50s, were travelling along Clarks Lane and became aware a silver Peugeot was behind them.

As the victims turned into Approach Road, the Peugeot overtook their vehicle, stopping in the middle of the road and blocking-in the victims' car.

Two men, one of whom was holding a metal pipe, got out of the car and ran towards the victims' car striking the bonnet with the pipe.

The victims reversed their car and drove along Clarks Lane in the direction of Croydon Road, where the silver Peugeot caught up with them and rammed their vehicle from behind.

The suspects are described as black men, in their mid 20s of average build. Both were wearing black clothing.

The victims were not injured and nothing was stolen.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Sergeant Karl Humphrey, said: "We are committed to identifying and arresting all of those who were involved in carrying out this frightening incident.

"We firmly believe the victims were specifically targeted and have followed several lines of enquiry.

"If you know who the driver of the silver Peugeot and his passenger are then I really need you to give me their names.
