By Richard Tracey AM, Greater London Authority (Conservative, Merton and Wandsworth)
I was shocked that Ken Livingstone, Labour candidate for Mayor of London, has promised to cut fares by five per cent.
There is no money to do this.
A five per cent cut in fares would lead to massive reductions in Safer Transport Police, the scrapping of upgrades on the Northern Line and Overground, and a slashing of the number of bus routes.
Boris Johnson is making the tough decisions that are resulting in much needed investment in our transport infrastructure.
Ken Livingstone is playing politics with the aim of trying to win an election.
