A man accused of murdering a care worker at her home in Kingston will appear at the Old Bailey on Friday.

Mohammed Asad Niazi, 29, of Cambridge Road, Kingston, was in the dock for a short hearing at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court this morning after being charged by police last night.

He is accused of murdering Charito Cruz, 37, known to friends as Che, a care home worker at Galsworthy House in Kingston Hill.

She was found dead at her home in Cambridge Road, Kingston, on Monday at about 9.20pm, after suffering head injuries.

Wearing a grey short-sleeved T-shirt and stubble he spoke only to give his name and confirm his address.

No details of the murder charge were given by prosecutor Liz West or be his defence counsel John Cahill.

Chairman of the bench, Tony Salem, remanded Mr Niaz in custody until Friday for a bail hearing at the Old Bailey.
