Individuals and businesses helping to drive down crime in Croydon are to be recognised in an award ceremony.

The inaugural ceremony for the Croydon town centre crime prevention awards takes place on October 6 in Tiger Tiger.

Judges for the awards, launched by the Croydon business crime reduction partnership and funded by Croydon BID, have whittled the nominations down to a final shortlist for the six categories.

Andrew Bauer, chairman of the CBCP Board, who will present the awards, said: “In an organisation dedicated to eradicating crime and positively changing an offender’s future behaviour, the success of the scheme is dependent upon a series of small scale interventions that coalesce into an effective capability to combat crime and protect property, which in turn leads to greater investment in new retail and commercial premises for the town.

“These awards recognise the individuals who have made significant contributions to these interventions at grass roots level, subsequently making the CBCP one of the leading organisations of its kind in the UK.”

Winners will receive a trophy and certificate and the runners up will also be presented with a certificate in recognition of their efforts.
