Crystal Palace fan Rosie Blackwell-Sutton gives her views on the Eagles' 2-2 draw with West Ham United on Saturday.

Crystal Palace couldn’t have gone in to this game on more of a high.

Four days earlier, having come from behind, Dougie led the Eagles on to a historical victory at the Amex stadium.

To even think about winning away, let alone against Brighton, is something very few Palace fans, pessimistic as we are, dared to do.

But we did it, meaning spirits were high heading in to the clash against West Ham.

The Hammers have been better away from home this season, but as we all know, Selhurst has become quite a fortress in recent times so a draw always seemed likely.

Even so, riding on a wave of optimism from the south coast, we set about dismantling Allardyce’s strong team.

Cole, Lansbury, Carew, Almunia, Bentley and Nolan, who wouldn’t be out of place in most Premiership teams, lined up against our promising young side.

I had earlier predicted we would score early, and that we did as Murray flicked on to Williams who passed the ball to Ambrose to slot home.

As we all know, scoring early can have its downfalls - we could sit back and defend for the rest of the game (as we have the tendency to do), or continue attacking.

Thankfully we went for the latter. We played nice football, on the floor (unlike our opponents) and proved that we are a force in this league.

Unfortunately, we got pegged back twice by our powerful opponents and ended up drawing the game 2-2, but to think that we competed for the whole 90 minutes, and perhaps should have won, shows how far we’ve come.

Our squad is looking more impressive than ever with a mix of exciting youngsters and old heads, not forgetting those to return from injury and our fringe players who are more than proving themselves in the cup.

It certainly has been a great week to be a Palace fan, and I predict many more ahead!
