Larry Lamb, former EastEnders arch baddie Archie Mitchell, and the star of this year’s pantomime will be joined by Santa when he turns on the town centre Christmas lights.
The actor, who plays the wicked Abanazar in Aladdin at Fairfield Hall, will turn out at 6.30pm November 17 to flick the switch and light up Croydon for the festive season.
Croydon BID has funded the Christmas lights, which will hung throughout the town centre Santa Claus, Larry Lamb and the Mayor of Croydon, Councillor Graham Bass will be joined outside the entrance to the Whitgift Centre by the winner of Croydon BID’s 2011 Design a Christmas Light competition, yet to be announced.
Maria Chapman-Beer, Interim Director of Croydon BID, said: "We are delighted that Larry will help perform the BIG Switch-On. As one of the nation’s most popular actors, his presence will no doubt help attract large crowds into the centre."
