Children who look after sick or disabled family members were guest of honour at a ceremony to mark the anniversary of a community market. Surbiton Farmers Market raised £750 at their second anniversary event for the The Young Careers’ Project.

The cash will fund a half-term riding activity at the Horse Rangers Association, Hampton Court, and for 25 children to go to the Rose Theatre’s Christmas production of The Snow Queen.

Young carers Jamie, 12, Joe, 11, Connor, 9, and Ciara, 5, with their mother Dena Weighill, received the donation from co-chair of the market committee Geoffrey Doyle.

Surbiton’s Farmers’ Market’s 26 stalls selling seasonal produce is held in Maple Road, Surbiton, every third Saturday of the month from 9am to 1pm.
