By Mike Tilcock; Yorkshire Road, Mitcham
There are currently three sites in this area that are being developed for housing.
All three are on the 463 Bus route.
They are as follows:
- Rowan Road, on the site of the former Rowan Road High School. (I keep reading in your newspaper about the need to create more school places in Merton);
- Tamworth Lane/Cedars Avenue. (Formerly the Brenley Playing Fields. No shortage of recreation space then in Merton?);
- Mitcham Common, at the junction of Commonside East/Windmill Road (Whichever way you look at it, this site must have been "stolen" from the people of Mitcham).
I realise that there is a need for more housing, but question whether any of these sites will provide the very much needed "affordable/social housing for those in need in the London Borough of Merton.
